CRYOTHERAPY
Cryotherapy is a highly effective and safe procedure that is used to freeze and destroy benign skin lesions on the face and body. The NHS no longer remove lesions that are purely for a cosmetic reason.
Cryotherapy involves using liquefied nitrous oxide to destroy the tissue by freezing the cell fluid which in turn forms ice shards that rupture the cell membrane in turn destroying the cell and the lesion.
Cryotherapy can treat all common benign skin lesions including age spots, warts, skin tags, verrucas and cherry angiomas

Benefits
Cryotherapy can be a very quick and simple procedure.
We use the Cryopen device for accurately delivering the liquid nitrogen towards the skin lesion to be removed. The Cryopen emits a very fine jet, allowing a much more focused and targeted treatment than larger canisters sometimes used. This results in less unwanted side effects, and a more comfortable procedure, due to the fact that surrounding healthy tissue can be avoided.
The procedure lasts only a matter of seconds and although slight discomfort is felt, it does not require anaesthetic and is very well tolerated. The skin lesion will appear white and then thaw back to its original appearance within a minute. Over the next week or two, the skin lesion should scab and fall off. Depending on the nature of the skin lesion involved, it may take more than one procedure for this process to be complete.
FAQ
How long does the treatment take?
You will initially have a full consultation to include a medical questionnaire, and a thorough examination of the blemish to ensure that it is safe to be removed. Once this has been completed the actual treatment generally takes no more than 15 minutes.
What should I expect after Cryotherpay?
Following cryotherapy the treated area will turn red and possibly blister after treatment. Any mild pain should be gone after about three days. The treated area will form a scab, which usually heals in one to three weeks.
